The Bilingual Translation MA is open to you if you are a non-native speaker of English and your first language is Arabic, French, German, Italian, Polish, Russian or Spanish. It will prepare you for a career in translation from English into your first language of specialised technical and institutional texts, and translation (for information purposes) of similar texts from your first language into English.

You will learn how to research specialised subjects and to produce commercially usable translations of specialised technical and institutional texts, applying insights drawn from the study of linguistics and translation theory as well as from professional practice. Translation with Language Technology (Master Degree)

This 240-credit (120 ECTS) version of our EMT-recognised MATLT is designed to be of particular interest to students based in continental Europe or planning to work (or take a further qualification) there after their degree. It is compliant with the Bologna pattern of higher education and so will be fully recognised around Europe. It will allow applicants to take additional modules and includes the option of a semester of residence abroad (either at an EMT partner translation school or in a work placement). If you would prefer to join this new Master’s rather than the MATLT, it is possible to switch your enrolment either before arriving in Swansea, or in the course of the first year of study (it is also possible to switch back again if you need to).
